June was such an exciting month for One River! Our partnership with She Brews Coffee House saw new growth as we partnered together again to create a prayer room in their Claremore, OK location. The story behind this prayer room is such a fun one, because there was not even originally the space available for a prayer room. When I first journeyed out to Claremore to talk with their manager, Michelle, about their desire for a prayer space, I originally thought the only available space was going to be a wall dedicated to creative and interactive prayer. When I mentioned that I was excited to talk with her about their prayer wall hopes, she told me she wanted a room, and that they would be willing to build the walls to make that room a possibility!
One thing I know is that when you spend the time and the resources to consecrate a space for God’s purposes, He will meet you in that place. And that is definitely what happened. When we spent time praying in the empty space they had built, the Holy Spirit gave such specific visions for each inch of the room. Everything fell together perfectly, flowing easily together with the vision He gave.
This is the empty space that She Brews built:
Our volunteers and friends gathered again to help us with this space. We could not have done it without them. They gave of their time and creativity and they are a part of all that the room became. We spent several days working together to build the space, sometimes meeting in Tulsa and other times making our way to Claremore together.
After two weeks, the work of creating the prayer room was done – and truly it didn’t even feel like work. It was so incredible, because each piece fit so perfectly. The chair, rug, and artwork all fit most times without an inch to space. Everything flowed and it turned out better than we could have ever imagined. This is the finished space!
A couple weeks later, on July 2nd, we came back together to commission the space. And in that time I was reminded of the importance of those commissioning prayers. Turning the space over to God in prayer is a catalytic moment that opens the space up to His uses. As soon as we finished setting the space aside to Him in prayer, testimonies began to roll in – even before leaving the commissioning event. First a woman leading a precious ministry employing girls coming out of foster care received the prayer she needed, as well as the connection to resources she had been seeking. Then, a family on a road trip came into the cafe after having taken a wrong turn and getting lost. A member of the family walked away with her body healed, the whole family rejoicing! I feel so grateful while writing this, knowing that God’s plans are good, and so humbled to be able to be a part of creating spaces like this set aside to meet people in prayer.
I ask you to consider and pray about financially supporting One River. We are moving now into a season of support raising so that we can continue to do this work, and we are so grateful for those who have chosen to partner with us. If you are interested in taking part in what we are doing through giving, there are three main ways available to give:
